| Backpack The backpack is the thing you carry around on your back. It allows you to store items as well as equip Utility Mods, Movement Mods, and Nozzles. Backpacks have limited Inventory and Gear slots, so bring only what you need with you on an Expedition. Once you are on the planet, collect what you can then haul it back to the station without dying horribly and losing all your hopes and dreams in the process. | |
| Burning Burning is a Status Condition that does Damage Over Time. The duration of this condition can be shortened with the repeated use of Dodge Roll. Important safety tip: Burning will make you die, so don't just stand there like you usually do—stop, drop, and Dodge Roll. | |

| Gadgets Gadgets are either consumable or deployable. Consumable Gadgets are single-use items. Deployable Gadgets can be picked up, activated and deactivated, and returned to your Inventory. Deployables can be activated by throwing them or by dropping and manually activating them. | |

| Gooped Gooped is a Status Condition that slows movement and drains Stamina, causing Fatigue Buildup on creatures. | |
| Shocked Shocked is a Status Condition that will periodically immobilize you. If Shocked while dry, the shock will drain your Power and cause you to be Stunned. If shocked while Wet, shocks occur more frequently and also causes damage. | |

| Spawat Native to the planet Tephra. SPA Water restores Health and Stamina when you are directly exposed to it. While SPA Water lowers Fatigue Buildup in creatures, it also gives them the Sedated condition if they are already Exhausted. | |

| Terrain Terrain is soil that you can deform with your EXO Multi-Tool. I know, "deform" is a big word for you, but you will need to understand it in order to excavate the soil because it often contains precious resources—resources that both the Starseeker and Earth require. So, get to it. | |

| Vitals Vitals are important stats every Astroneer has and should monitor at all times to ensure a safe and productive mission. Health shows how much damage you can take before you are downed. Stamina is how long you can climb, swim, or otherwise exert yourself continuously. Stamina regenerates quickly and automatically but not while engaged in Stamina-consuming activities. Power enables the use of Nozzles and non-passive Utility and Movement Mods. It is slower to recharge than Stamina. Oxygen represents how long you are able to breathe while on planet. | |

| Water The main component in Tephra's hydrosphere. Water applies the Wet condition and requires you to swim when submerged. Swimming underwater drains Stamina and will damage Health once Stamina is depleted. | |
