Overview
As you might recall if you bothered to read anything I wrote, Sphalerite can be found in Tephra's Fungal Depths. You must go there if you want to refine Sphalerite into Zinc, but I wouldn't recommend it. What do you really need Zinc for anyway?
Honestly, I don't think anyone knows what to do with Zinc, but try not to judge it too harshly. No one quite knows what to do with me either.
